Morgan Monroe State Forest Rock Shelter Trail

Saturday, March 20th we go hiking! Meet at SGE at 1:30 p.m. for the drive to the forest or go directly there. It is about 40 minutes. Here is a map for exiting off Rt. 37 into old Rt. 37. After Martinsville, the divider suddently thins, and a tiny sign on the right says Morgan Monroe State Forest. Follow that sign to Forest Rd to Main Forest Rd. Where Main Forest Rd. changes again to Forest road, on the right is Beanblossom road. We will meet at that juncture. Here are a couple of topo maps of the area and the trail and a picture of the rock shelter The area map shows, on top, the scout trail and scout camping area where we'll camp in April. Plan on 3 hours hiking, so to be safe, we should be back to SGE around 6:00pm.
